The Clark Hulings Fund Launches Art + Tech Initiative

Santa Fe, N.M.— The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists (CHF) is pleased to announce our Art + Tech Initiative. Artists are at the forefront of invention: economically, as storytellers, and as creative visionaries and problem-solvers. As an organization dedicated to artists’ sustainability, CHF offers them the tools to navigate the changing world and emerging technologies.

“We are in the middle of a fundamental revolution in how we live, work, and interact with and on planet Earth. What does this mean for artists and anyone working in a creative field? What do they need to know to make smart decisions? Through lively discussions and expert speakers, we’ll explore emerging tech trends, including augmented and virtual reality, digital placemaking, 3D printing, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), etc.” said Executive Director, Elizabeth Hulings.

The Clark Huling Fund’s mission is to equip working visual artists to be self-sustaining entrepreneurs by embodying the legacy of painter Clark Hulings. Just as Hulings worked with, and through, ever-changing technologies—from side angle lenses and projectors, to Photoshop and digital archives—this initiative aims to give artists what they need to feel confident, creative, and empowered around a series of topics that include:

Art Business Conference

  • How “blockchain technology” is changing the way we do business by increasing the speed and efficiency of transactions, creating verifiable records of ownership, providing secondary sales documentation, and spurring global commerce.
  • The rapid buildout of technology platforms and apps that display artwork virtually, enhancing viewer experience and increasing sales.
  • Physical sales in a virtual marketplace: packing; shipping; tracking work securely, effectively and safely.
  • How these developments impact provenance, authentication, inventory and collection management, secondary sales, and licensing, and more.

The CHF Art + Tech Initiative delivers expert insights and content across our programming via ongoing Evenings with Hulings Salons, Thriving TuesdaysTM, The Thriving ArtistTM Podcast, The Art + Tech Speaker Series, Art Tech Coffee Breaks, and Friday’s Q&A Trending Topics Social Media Series. CHF is actively helping artists and art-industry professionals stay involved and informed prior to the culmination of this initiative: The State of the Art Industry Conference: Technology is Transforming The Business of Art—What You Need to Know. The conference includes an immersive Artist Training Oct 11-14, 2021 (Virtual), and Full Industry Events Oct 18-21, 2021 (Santa Fe, NM & Virtual).
