Instead of taking the cerebral and conceptual approach that’s common in contemporary art, Steven Lester connects with his audience on an emotional and visceral level. His paintings create visual narratives around the widespread popularity of competitive sports.
Pursue relationships with art consultants and corporations in order to secure
commercial contracts and high-profile installations. Establish contractual relationships with at least one high-profile sports organization as its official “artist of record,” producing event- and site-specific paintings.
Year 1 Accomplishments

He had two solo sports art exhibitions in two different states. He was awarded the international, “Sport Artist of the Year” award by the United States Sports Academy, and the American Sport Museum’s “Zhenliang He Cultural Medallion.” He was invited to have an Olympic-themed, solo exhibition in Tokyo running concurrently with the 2020 Summer Games.
Year 2 Plans
Steven has three major, Olympic-themed exhibitions scheduled, both in the United States and in Tokyo, Japan. He will travel to Tokyo for the exhibition, and also to stage live sports painting events at multiple venues during the 2020 Summer Olympics.
