Alice Leora Briggs

Alice Leora BriggsAccelerator Fellow (2015-2016)

Alice Leora Briggs seeks to portray the imperfections of the world in woodcuts, a process by which “each mark throws a little flash of light into dark territory.” Over the past decade, her work has included collaborations with writers, but rather than illustrate their texts, she strives to produce pieces that respond to and resonate with their written voices. Alice is currently completing “The Room,” a suite of woodcuts that incorporates the text of the eponymous poem by the late Mark Strand, a former US Poet Laureate.
