Ellen Premack was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota and currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She graduated with a BA in Art Education from the University of Oklahoma, and recently retired as the Executive Director of the Jewish-centered Mizel Museum in Denver, Colorado. Since moving to Santa Fe in 2015, Ellen has served on the Boards of the Santa Fe Master Gardeners Association, The New Mexico New Deal Preservation Association, The New Mexico Glass Alliance, The Friends of Folk Art of the International Folk Art Museum, and The Clark Hulings Foundation. An art teacher in her earlier years, Ellen has gone back to bronze-casting, weaving, paper-making, needlepointing, and ceramics: she is currently taking sculpture and glass-making at the Santa Fe Community College.

Ellen is in a long-term relationship with Charlie Hauber; as well as two dogs—Katie and Maverick; four parrots—Gigi, Percy, Curry and Little Bird; and twelve chickens and ducks. Her son, David Rosenthal, is the Head White Wine-Maker for Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Seattle, Washington. She has stayed true to her three favorite interests: art, animals (she is a strict vegetarian), and aviation—earning her single-engine Certified Private Pilot’s License.
