The CHF Advanced Business Accelerator Fellows are announced today, and we continue to promote CHF Fellow and Partner Events. The final announcement for this month is that planning is underway for the 2nd Annual Art Business Summit in Santa Fe on April 6-7th: registration is now open.

Donations made throughout the year help with overhead expenses, and allow us to continue to fund Fellow programs. Our artist Fellows are developing skills to create sustainable art practices, and until that opportunity is available for all working artists, your tax-deductible donation helps move our mission forward.

Advanced Business Accelerator Announcement

CHF is thrilled to announce two tiers of Advanced Business Accelerator Awards for 2018: Entrepreneur and Executive. Year 1 of the program saw 18 Fellows successfully develop a quality business plan, and this Advanced Fellowship will deepen CHF’s work with selected Fellows, implementing the skills and tools they have developed in order to capitalize specific, pivotal projects.

This Thriving Artist Podcast interview with Alexis Clements covers a lot of ground. Podcast host Daniel DeGriz andAlexis discuss why artists are working for free, even when they’re represented at prestigious events like the Whitney Biennial. Alexis analyzes the myths about payment for working artists, the history of unions for art workers and why systematized organization has yet to take hold, and the complexity of philanthropy in the arts. If you’re interested in the organization and activity happening right now to counter forces that keep working artists vulnerable, listen now. With a background in health sciences, Jennifer Orbom has done operations work for political and health organizations, and conducted research in Nicaragua and Hawaii. Returning to academia in 2011, she earned her Master's degree in social and cultural anthropology from the University of Leuven in Belgium. An avid photographer, she grew up in an artists' community and enjoys learning about the business side of the art industry through her work with CHF. She now splits her time between Belgium and the United States.
