“I am very passionate about making art and have confidence in my work, but I still have a lot to learn about how to move to the next level with my art business. I need to learn more about how to identify my audience, write proposals for shows, and find a way to sell my work without being in a big city.”
“I am sure many people who were born with innate talent for art are probably very disappointed when they learn what it takes to survive as a working artist. Because I came to art as a second career, I clearly see that the creation and sale of art is a business. I still wish that everything I make could magically sell itself, but I know that it cannot. I know that I need to be as systematic and rigid about the business and marketing side of my job as I am about making my art.”
Kristin LeVier is a sculptor who transforms wood, metal, and glass into contemporary pieces that embody a sense of motion and are inspired by the natural world.
