“In five years, my first goal is to be a better and more established painter with a professional and self-sustaining art career–one with financial consistency. I would like to have a reputation for artistic excellence, for good solid work, as well as solid sales.”
“When young, idealistic, and untested, you believe in art in its purest sense. Thinking of art as a business, at this level, is like selling your soul. As you grow and mature, you are not only more skilled as an artist, you are seeing art more realistically. Your goals are different. You must be able to get your work out for people to see and experience, enter shows, and sell yourself and what you do.”
After an initial focus on photo-realistic painting and drawing, Donna Lee Nyzio has expanded into abstract realism. In her oil paintings, she tries to create an environment with shapes, and examines the way that forms interact with each other.
