Carla Crawford

Carla CrawfordAccelerator Fellow (2015-2016)

Painting and drawing in the classical tradition, Carla Crawford studied under David Hollowell and Wayne Thiebaud, and her work primarily centers on figures and portraits. She favors ordinary scenes that highlight intimacy and reflection. Inspired by news coverage of migrants fleeing their homelands, she is starting to create a series of portraits of refugees who have resettled near Oakland, California, where she lives. She hopes to use the human face to tell personal and private stories of migration.
