Fellows Resources

The information on this page is designed to support you throughout your fellowship and as an alumnus of the CHF Art-Business Accelerator Program.

Benefits and Opportunities

Concentrated Learning

Fellows receive an intensive year of business education and entrepreneurial learning—including core skills courses, principles, labs, peer group calls, and pivotal project support.

Discounts

CHF routinely obtains discounts for creative professionals. Some, like Artwork Archive, the art inventory tracking tool, are available to everyone. Others are limited to CHF Fellows; those opportunities are presented to all or some Fellows based on availability and alignment with the opportunity.

Lifetime Course Access

Fellows receive lifetime access to recorded videos of course material from their Fellowship period and some videos from other accelerators. Access is provided via the CHF Digital Campus. Note: this does not include downloadable presentation decks.

Lifelong Promotion

Fellows receive lifelong co-promotion by CHF via its website news and interviews, as well as social media, for Fellow exhibits, shows, and projects.

Ongoing Opportunities

Selected fellows are offered additional opportunities to grow, lead, and learn. This is based on CHF's need, alignment of individual skills, and coincidence of opportunities, and can range from team leadership to board seats to second year fellowships.

Pivotal Project Support

Fellows receive ongoing support of the pivotal project they planned in the course of their fellowship—in the form of consultation and promotional support. Note: this is subject to CHF staff's availability and may not be able to include on-demand consulting. However discounted consulting is available.

Place of Honor

At CHF local events in the Fellows' area or to which they can travel. Some opportunities and invitations to attend special virtual events, though not every event is provided automatically, subject to availability of excess tickets, seats, and resources.

Digital Community

In addition to CHF's Thriving Art Exchange group, Fellows have access to a Facebook Group just for Fellows. Want to limit the field of discussion to people who've been through the CHF Fellow experience? This is how.

Direction and Support

Current Year Fellows

For Fellows in the current year, all the information on workshop times, lab times, call-in/connection information, teams/groups, team captains, assignments, and project requirements are available on the syllabus. The link is not public.

Alumni and Captains

As a resource, you have access via CHF's Digital Campus to all workshops from your accelerator year, some or all from other years, and any of your original project documents you submitted. All Fellows and Alumni have access. Go there to log in. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it. Note: access is in the form of course videos; we do not provide permanent access to slide decks.

Where to Get Help

You can always reach out via info@clarkhulingsfoundation.org with your questions or utilize the contact page. CHF has support and concierge teams who field different types of questions, based on whether it's a technical or informational issue.

How to Get Involved

This is a movement—to create a more robust culture, replete with arts and creative intelligence, with a strong creative economy. Equipping creative professionals and art-entrepreneurs with business training and supported peer networks is just part of it. See how you can plug in with advocacy, giving, and/or volunteerism here.

Bring Similar Learning to More People

Does your municipality, state, or local/regional arts and cultural organization want to further its own mission by equipping its creative economy to thrive? Tell them about CHF's sponsored learning opportunities.

Success Tips

Each month, we will be tracking your progress and gathering your input on the program in a variety of ways. We want you to tell us how you’re doing so that we can support your achievements and help you to overcome any stumbling blocks you encounter. From time to time, we will also be asking you to participate in research (i.e., brief surveys and studies) geared toward improving the Accelerator Program and augmenting the knowledge that exists in the field of artist education and entrepreneurship. Your honest feedback ensures that our program and those of other arts educators provide the greatest possible value to to you and your peers.

Send us your questions in advance and come prepared. Our goal is to provide you with a solid foundation on each workshop, lab, and elective topic, as well as a forum for you to get answers to your specific questions. But an hour goes by quickly, so if you want to get the most out of each session, come prepared. We expect you'll have questions that occur to you on the fly, but you can save time by emailing questions you already know you have. The regular accountability calls with your team are a must—you aren't prepared if you aren't prepared to support your team!

We encourage you to listen actively to what your instructors and peers say during any given session. The presentation slides are meant to augment, not replace, the workshop facilitator’s voice. If we’ve done our jobs well, each workshop should spark ideas that you might not have considered beforehand. You’re encouraged to take notes and jot down your questions so that they can be addressed at the end of the workshop or during the smaller lab that corresponds to that topic. We encourage you to be polite and respectful of your instructors and peers, but remember that this program is for YOUR benefit, so there’s no advantage to being shy.

Sound Requirements

Noise: Find a comfortable spot where there is no loud background noise. Please turn off any other phone ringers in the vicinity and use headphones if background noise is going to be an issue. Noise that may seem inconsequential to you is often amplified by today’s high-quality earbuds and computer mics, so please mute yourself whenever you are not speaking.

Visual Presentation

Workshops typicall include a web-based slide presentation. Please make sure that you have a desktop or laptop computer, a webcam so we can see you, and reliable high-speed internet access. If you miss, please view the recording as soon as possible. It will take a little time to get that recording live. Remember, there's an attendance policy, so please endeavor to keep the routine commitments the accelerator entails.

CHF workshops and labs are recorded, and these recordings may be published in the CHF Digital campus or otherwise excerpted or distributed by CHF for educational use. This includes the use of your image and voice when you ask questions or make comments. By participating in these workshops, you agree to allow CHF to distribute these recordings as we see fit.
