Elizabeth Hulings on Women Founders

Elizabeth Hulings asking a fruit vendor how his business is going.
The Little Cherry Seller, by Clark Hulings

In case you’ve ever wondered about the entrepreneurial and creative vision that drives The Clark Hulings Fund, read CHF Executive Director Elizabeth Hulings’ featured interview in Authority Magazine: “Why We Need More Women Founders” series. Elizabeth shows her serious business chops in Jerome Knyszewski’s article, and tells stories of growing up and sharing her seat in the car with her father’s drying plein air paintings. Her experiences with her family and her entire career in business come together in the Mission and Programming for The Clark Hulings Fund.

“I have spent my entire career in strategy and development, working at various times in every functional area of a business, from HR to marketing to product development. I worked on five Fortune-500 mergers at the predecessors of Citigroup, Cendant, and Verizon Communications, and did stints at nonprofits, including the International Development Exchange, The Management Center/Opportunity Knocks, and Human Rights Watch. I founded Counterpoise in 2002 because I realized I wanted to apply my skills and experience to helping people engaged directly in their own ventures, be they start-ups, small to medium-sized businesses, or social profit organizations. As the daughter of a middle class artist, it was only natural that I would end up helping artist-entrepreneurs to follow in his footsteps through The Clark Hulings Fund. My motto for all the work I do is Dream, Build, Deliver. It applies no matter what you are pursuing.” —Elizabeth Hulings
