Belgin Yucelen – INTERSTATE Exhibition

The Central Washington University Art Department is hosting the upcoming exhibition INTERSTATE: Where I-90 meets I-82. The show will take place on the university’s campus at the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery.

This exhibition will feature the sculpture Oracle by Clark Hulings Foundation 2017 Fellow Belgin Yucelen. Oracle depicts a priestess of the Temple of Apollo and is part of a series of nine bronze sculptures united by the theme of Time. “Oracle was the name of any priestess at the Temple of Apollo in Greece who would talk about future events.” Belgin explains. “She used to sit upon a tripod so as not to fall into the chasm. This sculpture was part of the exhibition titled “A Journey in Time” intended to motivate the viewer to make the most of time before it is too late, to be more present and aware.” See more of Belgin’s work on her website.

Opening events on Thursday, November 5, include a lecture at 4:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the gallery from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
