Sugar Skull Decoration Demo

Tuesday, October 27th 2020 7:00-8:00 PM EASTERN
Sugar Skull Decoration Demo $5
with Sean Wells

In this one hour zoom demonstration, Sean Wells will take you through the history of Day of the Dead and the sugar skull story. She will demonstrate how to create a sugar skull look using professional face paint materials and traditional designs to inspire you to create your own look.

Sean Wells y Delgado is an award-winning 5th generation Hispanic artist and has been a juried member of the Spanish Colonial Arts Society in the retablo category producing traditional Saint images. She is also well-known for her Day of the Dead themed art that has appeared on nationally-distributed beers and wines and New Mexico Lottery scratchers. Sean aspires to educate on Hispanic culture through art. Sean received "Best Visual Artist" from Albuquerque the Magazine and the 2019 Hispanic Heritage Award, Arts & Culture. Sean also demonstrates, teaches and presents to children and adults throughout New Mexico on themes related to her art imagery. She has participated in the CHF Art-Business Conference and credits the experience with helping her adapt successfully in this challenging time.

Day of the Dead is a 3,000 year old tradition evolved to support dealing with loss and grief. Larger than that, Sean sees the representation of the skull and skeleton in her art as a symbol of the foundation we all share as humans. It is the thing that unites us, and all the rest is icing on top!
